Lewis O'Donald

- Lewis O'Donald is an Independent Non-Executive Director for HSBC Bank plc, having been
appointed in early 2023. He also is a co-founder of an advisory company, Arboreal Risk Advisers
LLP, where he works with banks and fintech companies on their risk strategies.
Lewis is a trustee of GARP, the Global Association of Risk Professionals, a trustee at Dorchester
Sailing Club and an advisor at Henley Citizens Advice on a voluntary basis.
Lewis held the role of Global CRO at Nomura Holdings from January 2011 to the summer of 2019.
He sat on many subsidiary boards for Nomura; including their American business, UK-based
subsidiaries, their re-insurance business and the Frankfurt business. He remains engaged with
regulators and other stakeholders in the design and regulation of the financial industry.
Prior to working at Nomura, Lewis O'Donald worked for Morgan Stanley, starting in Fixed Income
trading, then working in Risk Management and finally as Senior Risk O?cer for the global
Wholesale business.
Lewis read Mathematics and Physics at the University of Bristol (BSc) and the University of
Cambridge (MSC) before embarking on a D.Phil at Oxford University in Mathematics
